This program was written by Don Brown of CE Software. It is a combination INIT and cdev and is installed by dragging it into your System folder and restarting your computer. Various options can be set via the Control Panel.
It should be noted that Vaccine should have a leading space before its name (i.e.
“ Vaccine”) so it will be the first INIT to execute. It is my recommendation that the option “Expert Display” should be left off. This ensures that the user will not miss the notification of a possible infection.
Vaccine operates by automatically trapping attempts to write executable resources to any file on your computer. It will respond to any such attempt by displaying a dialog showing the resource type which is being added and the file to which it is being added. The user may either prevent or allow this access. To see an example of the dialog use the “Show Vaccine Dialog” button above.
Unfortunately, Vaccine sometimes prevents viral infection by crashing the computer!
